Into The Trenches is the tenth level in Metal Arms. Continuing their journey beyond the Wastelands, Glitch and Mozer stop in their tracks, with the latter confessing his doubts in being able to go any further. Understanding his thoughts on the matter, Glitch suggests for Mozer to return to Droid Town and join up with the rebellion. This prompts the bigger bot to give Glitch his Rivet Gun before heading back the way they came. Glitch continues the journey alone once more, dead on Vlax's trail. This level has five secret chips and a speed chip time of twenty minutes and nine seconds.

Trivia[]

Without falling into the temptation to acquire upgrades from the Barter Droids, this level is the first to introduce weapon upgrades, starting with the Level 2 Rivet Gun.

  • If a Rivet Gun wasn't picked up before this level, Mozer will instead give Glitch a Level 1 Rivet Gun, despite wielding a Level 2 version.
  • Even if Glitch didn't have a Rivet Gun before this level, his cutscene model will still show him with a Rivet Gun on-hand.

A Level 2 Rocket Launcher can be acquired in this level, preventing the need to purchase it from the Barter Droids.

  • Like avoiding the Rivet Gun, if Glitch were to avoid picking up a Rocket Launcher, grabbing the upgrade kit would simply supply him with a Level 1 Rocket Launcher.
  • If Glitch doesn't stumble upon the Level 2 Rocket Launcher in this level, the next level will offer a second opportunity.

The Mil Titan and the Scout make their first appearances in this level. Their presence here is rather strategic due to the way they're handled in the environment.

  • The first Titan can serve as a shock for players as it happens to be walking up the tunnel walkway around the same time Glitch approaches it. Should the player be rushing through the level, the Titan may get closer than the player typically wants. Other Titans in this level can also appear abruptly and in the most unexpected of ways.
  • The Scout, while not as imposing, happens to be a tricky target to take out due to its size and speed. This is even more of a challenge when it detects Glitch in the vicinity. If the Scout makes it to a security panel, not only will it alert nearby Grunts to target you, but it'll also charge for Glitch and detonate once within close proximity.
